What Grade Of Disco Equipment Will Work For You?

Honest approach before you book:

We explain the defence between our "Classic-Disco" that it the industry standard in sound & lighting for most disco's.

Our Classic-Disco:

Has very good in sound output for a disco, but its how speakers process the sound/not Watts you need to think about. Disco Speakers are designed to give a big-sound only on your dance floor that is usually 5 meters wide & 5 meters long, that's most wedding venues eg. barns, as the rest of the room is for seating/socialising. Disco speakers rely on walls to be close to the speakers so bouncing the sound back onto your dance floor, & low ceilings can also do this otherwise people have to be very close to the speakers.

The sound quality is only designed for the dance floor so any further back in the room you loose the quality (you might only hear a bass drone & harsh top, further back in your room).

Classic-disco lighting, ours uses 2 moonflower style disco lights as they fill you dance floor perfectly.

With weddings you need to program them otherwise they just look like a "rave" all night even on your first dance? so need to adapt with your parry mood (not sound to light activated inside the light). Other companies use small moving head light & mirror balls but all need to be programmed for weddings most do not do.

Below some Classic-Disco Pics: What most wedding/disco's are designed to do.

As you can clearly see the dance floor area is not very big as that is what disco's are honestly designed to do.

"djdarrenjewell.com Premium Service" Listed On Contracts:

Our Premium Services Sound & Lighting: The Complete Dj & Show Package.

If You Have A Bigger Dance Area, Or Larger/Long Room, Or Want More Of A Complete Show In Lighting & Lossless Stage/Event Sound Quality.
For Long Rooms Or Large Rooms/high ceilings you need speakers that are designed to push all the sound quality back much further, but usually they are 3-4 times the cost & weight why discos don't use them. But our Premium Shows Do Use Them If listed on your contract (djdarrenjewell.com premium sound-system).

The lightings is designed for larger rooms, as you still get the dance-floor lights, & our medium+ sized moving head lights to highlight the rooms beauty at night when combined with mood-uplighting. This all took a year to program everything together as one for weddings.

Below Pictured Our "Premium Services" Disco-Show with mood-uplighting.

Most couples overlook if they have a bigger/longer room/high ceiling, or want more of a festival/clubby playlist its best to book the right disco specification. The Mood-Uplighting can be other colours to set the room base colour at night, or White.

Custom Service Level: How Many Hours We Work.

We have 3 grades of customer service:

Normal Customer Service Level: This Is The U.K. Wedding Industry  Standard.

U.K. Style Weddings.

Classic Disco Service This Is All Bookings Not Done Directly From This Our Webpage, As Your Contract Is With A Different Company. All Other Companies Sell Our Services & They Take Commission & Administration Charges Usually 30% OF The Total Amount Paid, so we do less preparation work.

The Other company you booked is your point of contact as you booked them, they send you there contract & helpful information. The Subcontractor/Dj receives your 15-25 song playlist including your first dance if having one (U.K. popular music, as clients must supply all Non-U.K. music via MP3), We then just put your chosen songs in a music folder ready to be played on your day. This means in prep work before your booking the Dj only work about 1 hour, then on your wedding day shall load the van, travel to your venue, then back home again & unload the van that is usually 2pm-2am so working based on disco setup 6pm-7pm & disco playing time 7pm-midnight, & the cost of buying/maintaining equipment/classic-disco.

Total Working Time: 13 Hours.

Medium Customer Service Level:
U.K. Style Weddings & Included in "djdarrenjewell.com bespoke premium Services"

We like to phone clients/couples but do know nowadays some just prefer email as busy lives.

Your point of contact is Darren your Dj as he will be the Dj on your day.

We ask for a 15-25 song playlist etc. the same as the basic level, but as you have booked us directly we break down you playlist & the songs we add "cue & loop" points so this makes transitions to other songs much smoother, & if your chosen song looses people dancing we can move quicker onto a "floor filler" very smoothly because we have programmed each song (its already to go!, but does take much more prep time), also we make sure the music is the highest quality eg. the basic level above the music quality will be MP3 320bit that is industry standard (streaming is lower bit/quality & Dj's can't legally stream in licensed/has a Bar venues), we do our best so your playlist is Lossless quality 1411bit or FLAC 2822bit that's how the artist intended it to sound like/nothing taken out, this does cost us money buying higher quality songs again & time searching for them. We also make all your songs into "Dj stems tracks" but unlike most Dj software ours does not loose any quality/bit's.

We can also do some basic First dance editing eg. you want 2 songs put together at set times so it runs smoothly (will shall do this in the preparation time so you can listen to it before your wedding / learn a dance?). Prep work time 2-4 hours & hours worked on your day 1pm-3am so a total of 14 hours depending what show you have booked based on pm-7pm setup, & disco play time 7pm-midnight, & the cost of buying/maintaining equipment/show you have booked.

Total Working Hours: 16-18 hours.

High Customer Service Level:

U.S.A. Style Weddings = Full Bespoke & Work Stated On Contract.

Most U.K. couples will benefit from our Medium Service Level, but increasingly are finding couples want things they see on Instagram/Social media etc.

In The U.K. couples would book a Toastmaster for the day/evening, but the U.S.A. was the Dj does a similar job & music

e.g. 4pm The Dj announces the newly wed couple into the room & plays a set song (the client states were to start & stop the song so more dj prep work), then the Dj announces all the speeches while playing music for each speech / again each song the client states were to start or stop the song / the Dj will add "cue" points adding to prep wok of each song), then play music through the wedding breakfast selected by the couple (the Dj might have to buy more music they will never play again/bought for your wedding only), then the Dj might have to announce some party games & songs stated to be played again with start & stop points/more prep work). We have to supply 2 high quality Shure Beta A Microphones (best for speeches & cost £300+ each).

After the wedding breakfast the Dj announces cutting of the cake (again the client states were to start & stop the song so more dj prep work), then its the First Dance that is usually 2 songs put together eg. "we want this slow song to start at 39 seconds from the beginning until 1 min 15seconds, then it must flow into a fast "peak time dance-floor filler" & that song to start 1 min 53seconds from the start & ends 2 min 42 seconds from the end" The Dj must take time using studio software so everything flows & sounds nice so guests join in, this can take many hours editing & sending different versions to the couple.

Also there is a trend for couples to change the song lyrics adding there own personal slant on it, so then the Dj has to make that into a "Stem track" as it separates the song into Vocals, Higher frequency instruments, Bass, Beat, so you can turn the original song vocals off so the couple can sing there vocal version over the top of the song / this takes many Dj adding "cue points" that takes time on the song, if the client wants a more complex thing done is many more hours using studio software & sending the client different versions. Finally we get to the disco... Usually clients will have set songs played at set times with sour outs (we have to make separate music folders for each time/shout out so it forms timeline of folders & what must be done in each folder/time, this does take added prep time).

We do enjoy U.S.A style weddings  but just in added prep time the Dj can be working 5-20 hours more before your day, & on your day midday-3am earlier start, disco play time 7pm-midnight, & the cost of buying/maintaining equipment/show you have booked.

Total Working Hours: 24-30+ hours depending on amount of prep work.

Important Note:

The U.S.A. Dj's charge $1500-$2000+ Just for this Dj service above, we do it cheaper but need to be paid for the hours worked.

In Recent Years Couples Book The U.K. Wedding Customer Service But A Few Days Before Their Wedding Send An Additional Email Or Try To Change/Add Additional Work To The Original Paperwork  That Was Not Agreed To, This Is Becoming Quite Common In Recent Years as generally " get on with it" slant to the added work not agreed to as the client knows its all chargeable extra work they have not disclosed before booking, as what they have seen on eg. Instagram, that is the U.S.A wedding customer service Most know its chargeable extra work but think by sending it last minuet to the Dj they will just do it & work an extra 5-10+ hours more for no pay, we are always fair as its your special day & by hitting us with this "last minuet" extra work unpaid (we loose about £10k in earning per year) & most importantly we don't get any family time.

Sadly This Is Happening Far To Often Now So Have To Take This Action Now: If your booking is contracted with another company we shall not do any unpaid extra work, no additional extra equipment hire needed to do the changes, or hand the booking back to the agent the client has booked hopefully find a different Dj that is very doubtful for the hours needed to work & the pay they shall receive, as we get paid less then our website prices as the company you book should do most of the prep-work/not the Dj. If you have booked us from this webpage & your contract states "djdarrenjewell.com bespoke premium services" we do try to reason with you & do some work unpaid but not all as we want your dream to happen, but we cannot afford to work many extra hours for nothing, not have family time, or supply extra equipment for nothing.

We Enjoy Doing U.S.A Style Weddings As Good At Them, But Need To Be Paid For The Extra Hours Worked, Know About All Work Needed To Plan Work-Prep Time, & Extra Equipment Needed.
